C.A.R.R.O.T, or Comprehensive Air Infiltration Reporting and Retrofit Options Tool, is a software program, developed by Air Barrier Technologies to enable energy assessors to visually inspect a home for uncontrolled air infiltration. The program also provides an on-the-spot estimated air infiltration rating of the building. This rating or assessment then can be used to calculate an approximate cost of retrofitting.
The C.A.R.R.O.T. will provide an extremely cost effective way to accurately predict the energy loss of a building through air infiltration and can be used instead of a more expensive fan pressurisation test with a blower door.
The Retrofit Options Tool section of the software is intended for use by qualified Air Genius technicians. The data found in the Air Infiltration Report will enable the technician to accurately provide the homeowner with all the retrofit options to reduce the air infiltration, and a proper quote prior to any remedial work. A fan pressurisation test with a blower door will be part of the retrofit process to ensure the work has been carried out correctly and provide the homeowner with an air infiltration rating certificate.
The use of this software tool will include a short on-line training session, user registration and a log-in procedure through the Air Barrier Technologies web site.
